Happy Thanksgiving… it’s okay if you can’t feel thankful at the moment…

Once again, another Thanksgiving is here. For those of us who celebrate this occasion, we are reminded to be thankful, to be grateful —  while given the excuse to overindulged on a traditional feast with family and friends. But what if you are all alone and without the family and friends, and your cupboard is as empty as Mother Hubbard’s? You are told you should still be grateful because things could be worse… so on this Thankful Day, as I struggle to find things to be grateful; this photo I took last month reminds me that while I know I have a lot to be thankful for but it’s okay if I can’t feel thankful at the moment… I know the dark days will work its way through and I won’t always be singing the blues — because there’s always a chance for beautiful rainbow on rainy days.

Some Where Over the Rainbow

My Thanksgiving Birthday Wish

Every five to six and sometimes as many as eleven years, my birthday falls on Thanksgiving. The day most Americans get together with their family and friends to over indulge on turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, candied yams etc.  And of course to rejoice and feel thankful for whatever is important.  For me, this year I get to celebrate both Thanksgiving and my life at the same time.

Even though I am another year older and wiser; there are still a lot of things in life that seem so uncertain and difficult to understand. But one thing is for sure… time flies quickly regardless if you are having fun or not. Though, I’m glad to say — on this cloudy thankful day, I had a lot of fun doing what I love. So here is my Thanksgiving Birthday wish…

“May the wind always be at my back and the sun upon my face.
And may the winds of destiny carry me aloft to dance with the stars.”

Me, Myself, and I…

Another year, another birthday for me to reflect on my life — as if I don’t do enough of that throughout the year. 😉 Birthdays for me is more like taking a yearly inventory of myself: the new gray hair sprouting from my head; or seeing new laugh lines that I don’t find funny.

And of course the review of my accomplishments or lack thereof — like a video player: Play, rewind, fast-forward, stop… and SKIP.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. For most people who celebrates the tradition; it is a day that everyone has a free pass to over indulge on turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce etc… and be Thankful. So… what are you thankful for? I am thankful my birthday is a day before Thanksgiving — because instead of one day free pass to over indulge — I get two days. Yes! 😀

Okay… seriously, I am very thankful my boys are growing into fine young men. And that life is good even at times when it seems impossible.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! And eat like there is no tomorrow…  🙂
