The temperature last Thursday was sunny and around 74 degrees. I awoke on Sunday morning to find over a foot of snow have fallen and it is still snowing outside as I sit here typing… looks like the weatherman was spot on about the snow prediction. There’s at least two feet of snow accumulated. Normally, I would be very excited about the snow but… I am right in the middle of a very exciting and important project with tight deadlines. It is a project of my dream come true… and that also explains my lack of activity visiting and commenting on your blogs. I haven’t been able to do much photography and finally the snow forced me to take out my camera so that I can capture the snowy moment forever.
Ah… I’m sure I got you wondering what my dream project is. 😉 I will reveal it in the next post. Hopefully everything will go according to plan and will workout without delay. You will probably be as surprised as I am on how I found the opportunity to make my dream come true.
Okay… back to my snow storm rambling… it had snowed a couple of times since I’ve moved here but it was only a couple of inches. At first I was really surprised to see snow but then again, the town is located over 5,000 feet above sea level. I am learning the temperature here can go from one extreme to another in a very short time. From the looks of the amount out there, it’s likely the snow will probably stay around — at least until Thursday when the temperature suppose be around the 70’s again… in the mean time, the furry kids and I are trying to make the best of the snowy event. As usual, they enjoy running around like wild, crazy, pups and of course; I enjoy (sort of) hiking through knee-deep snow, at 7:00 a.m., on the back trails of my home with the camera on a tripod — looking for that spectacular shot. While I didn’t find that spectacular shot, here are snap shots of the desert snow storm. My first time seeing a cactus covered with snow.
This is a tree located in front of my house. Not sure what kind of evergreen this is but its bright color bark and interesting branches caught my attention.
As I continued the hike up the now — very familiar trail in the back of my house, I felt as if I’ve been transported to a winter wonderland.
And of course… the furry kids. Max is starting to show his age with little white hairs showing up around his face. Someday he will sport the familiar white face mask that all golden retrievers get…
Evie loves to plow through the snow…
Thanks everyone for your supportive comments and I apologize for my lack of response. The last month has been a life changing experience for me. I am beyond amazed by the events that’s changing my life for the better… better than I have ever anticipated. While I will still fit blogging into my life, right now with my limited time — I will not be able to post regularly. Thanks, everyone! 😀

After weeks of rainy days, the sun finally broke through. This is the first sunset for the New Year. Sunsets are amazing. It doesn’t take much for its beauty to leave a lasting impression — just like your wonderful compliments about my work and all the awards bestow to me. I can’t express enough how much your support means to me. I know lately I haven’t been keeping up with my responses and visiting your blogs. I apologize for the neglect. It is my hope that this New Year will pave a better road for me. And I will be free to be… 🙂
And that’s why it is not easy for me to write I’m going to write next… and hopefully, I don’t sound rude or ungrateful. But I feel it’s time I clear my guilty conscience regarding this matter.
Yesterday, I received another nomination for the most Versatile Blogger award. While I have received many awards since I started this blog, I never did follow the rules for getting the awards. And that is to write 7 things about myself and then to nominate 15 other people’s blog for the award. I want to apologize to those people who have taken the time to honor me with these awards but I chose not to follow the rules. It’s not that I am not grateful; I really appreciate your acknowledgment and I hope we continue to support each other. For those blogging friends who have follow and commented regularly on my blog, I show my appreciation by putting their links on my Blog Roll. While I appreciate any future nomination, I sincerely hope you will not take offense if I don’t follow the rules. Thank you.

The other day, I took the time to review all the posts I have made on WordPress — from the most recent to the very first. Of all the things I could have shared — for some reason, my first post was about THE ARTICHOKE (my first experience eating an artichoke). I don’t know why this particular experience came to my mind as the starting point for my blog but I’m sure there is probably a subconscious reason for it. How about you? What was the subject for your first post?
I don’t know what it is… I just have this attraction for photographing artichokes. 🙂

Happy New Year Everyone! It looks like 2011 is starting out great and my new leaf is blooming sooner than I had anticipated. A couple of months ago, I’ve decided to pursue my passion. Well… I’ve been offered a job today doing what I am passionate about — COOKING. And I get to move back to the town I love!
Many of you who have followed my blog, know that I have started a new food blog — Foodie With Camera. The food director and administrator were very impressed by my blog. It was able to convey to them my creativity and cooking abilities. I got an interview — and now the job. I have WordPress and my readers to thank for. WordPress provided me with a great opportunity to channel my frustrations and energy into a blog that show off my talents — and my fellow bloggers… I can’t tell you how much your comments and support gave me the motivation to keep blogging when I felt like giving up. I especially would like to give a big Thank You to Sasi of My Third Eye Photography Blog. Your last 6 months of daily comment on my posts is an amazing gift of encouragement. 😀
At first, I started the blog as a way of feeling productive with my time during the unemployment. Although, there were many times when I would question if doing the blog were worth the investment and if anything good would come of it. However, I realized that people seem impressed that I have a blog. So, I started to refer potential employers to it. While the blog didn’t directly get me a job, however, it has been a good resume booster. I’m sure many of you can relate to the unemployment situation — it’s a jungle out there. I’ve sent out countless resumes out into the cyber abyss, drove hundreds of miles for interviews — all without success because so many people competing for one job. I applied for one job where they received 275 applications! And I was one of the chosen 12 picked for interview. Although I did not get the job, it was the integrity of the blog that made potential employers look at my resume. So… for those of you who are in the same boat and wonder if anything good would come from blogging — YES! Keep blogging. As I have learned, the integrity of your blog speaks volume of who you are and how you work. Use it to your best advantage and show off yourself!
Below is the 2010 stat summary I’ve received from WordPress. I am very happy and proud of my stat achievement. But most of all, I am even more impressed by the kind of service WordPress provides and all for FREE!! All I can say is… WOW! Thank You…
The stats helper monkeys at WordPress.com mulled over how this blog did in 2010, and here’s a high level summary of its overall blog health:
The Blog-Health-o-Meter™ reads WOW.
A Boeing 747-400 passenger jet can hold 416 passengers. This blog was viewed about 5,500 times in 2010. That’s about 13 full 747s.
In 2010, there were 124 new posts, not bad for the first year! There were 639 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 73mb. That’s about 2 pictures per day.
