2010 In Review

Happy New Year Everyone! It looks like 2011 is starting out great and my new leaf is blooming sooner than I had anticipated. A couple of months ago, I’ve decided to pursue my passion. Well… I’ve been offered a job today doing what I am passionate about — COOKING.  And I get to move back to the town I love!

Many of you who have followed my blog, know that I have started a new food blog — Foodie With Camera. The food director and administrator were very impressed by my blog. It was able to convey to them my creativity and cooking abilities. I got an interview — and now the job. I have WordPress and my readers to thank for. WordPress provided me with a great opportunity to channel my frustrations and energy into a blog that show off my talents — and my fellow bloggers… I can’t tell you how much your comments and support gave me the motivation to keep blogging when I felt like giving up. I especially would like to give a big Thank You to Sasi of My Third Eye Photography Blog. Your last 6 months of daily comment on my posts is an amazing gift of encouragement. 😀

At first, I started the blog as a way of feeling productive with my time during the unemployment. Although, there were many times when I would question if doing the blog were worth the investment and if anything good would come of it. However, I  realized that people seem impressed that I have a blog. So, I started to refer potential employers to it. While the blog didn’t directly get me a job, however, it has been a good resume booster. I’m sure many of you can relate to the unemployment situation — it’s a jungle out there. I’ve sent out countless resumes out into the cyber abyss, drove hundreds of miles for interviews — all without success because so many people competing for one job. I applied for one job where they received 275 applications! And I was one of the chosen 12 picked for interview. Although I did not get the job, it was the integrity of the blog that made potential employers look at my resume. So… for those of you who are in the same boat and wonder if anything good would come from blogging — YES! Keep blogging. As I have learned, the integrity of your blog speaks volume of who you are and how you work. Use it to your best advantage and show off yourself!

Below is the 2010 stat summary I’ve received from WordPress. I am very happy and proud of my stat achievement. But most of all, I am even more impressed by the kind of service WordPress provides and all for FREE!! All I can say is… WOW! Thank You…

Follow your passion and looks like you’re and I’m sure you’ll do very well.

I am so glad that my comments were an encouragement. As I blogged on my photo blog, comments may be a few words/lines..but, end of the day it means a lot to the blogger. It gives the feel that you (as a blogger) has a target audience and you don’t want to fail before your audience.

    Keep blogging!
